Handbook 2009-2010

Give a Man a Fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Sts. Peter and Paul School teaches its students to fish. While embracing technology, we still believe in teaching the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic. Yearly testing is standard; academic expectations run high. We believe that if challenged, students are inspired to acheive great things. Results validate that belief.

Excellence in Leadership Training
"Come and follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Jesus Christ
We at Sts. Peter and Paul School believe that leadership is learned, not bestowed or bought; that true leadership is earned.

Excellence by Example - The Faculty
"Only through the union of virtue and learning will we give our work its perfection. We must know how to i nspire in our students a passion for the beautiful" St. Madeleine Sophie Barat
Our gifted faculty offer the student body a wealth of knowledge and experience. By example, their inspiration, dedication and hard work serve as a cornerstone for each student's educational formation.

Excellence in Technological Innovation
"Tell all the nations how glorious God is. Make known his wonders to every people. Make us witnesses to the farthest corners of the world." Doc. Vatical II
Nationally recognized for its technological leadership, Sts. Peter and Paul School offers every student a vast array of computer related teaching tools. Linked by its own Local Area Network (LAN), the system's capabilities include the use of Accelerated Reading on demand, Accelerated math, Type to learn, Hyperstudio, distance learning, live conferencing and the filtered internet.

Excellence by Example - The Parents
"Invest your time in your child's education...and you can expect to reap a rich harvest in his character development and academic achievement." William Murray
Sts. Peter and Paul School demands a high level of parental involvement in the daily operations of the school. We believe that education starts in the home, and an education without parental involvement is not a complete education. As role models, parents are involved in every facet of school life, from classroom reading and instruction to coaching and cleaning. Parents are required to give 40 hours of their time to the school, per year, per family. Although 40 hours is the minimum requirement, many parents - grandparents, too - give much more of their time that the minimum.
